Bharat Scout & Guides organises cleanliness drive

A cleanliness drive was carried out in Kokrajhar town under Swacch Bharat Abhijan on the eve of 70th Independence Day celebration today to make dirty free neat and clean environment among human life in the district.

Hundreds of students from different college,schools and employees,citizens join hand in the cleanliness drive at various places in Kokrajhar town,was organised by Bharat Scout & Guides,Kokrajhar district at Kokrajhar railway station road.Madhav Prasad Sarma,Kokrajhar DC flagged of the drive team,which cleaned railway station road and its adjoining areas.

A total of 44 students from various schools visited NTPC,Salakati industrial units on the eve of Independence Day celebration under teachers’ guide to make industrial tour in Kokrajhar,was flagged of by Deputy Commissioner,Kokrajhar in the presence of officials from District Industry and Commerce Centre and teachers. Sarma said district today saw good initiative of cleanliness drive along participation in the celebrations on the eve of Independence Day.

‘We must keep neat and clean to make hygienic among society.We have been making this scheduled under the directions of government in the state’,Sarma said.

“Cleanliness drive and sapling plantation was carried out in the district as government directed to perform activities ahead Independence Day celebration.Student and citizens join hands and office staffs in various offices made their cleanliness drive on the day.It will extend help while making healthy living among society”,Sarma added.

BTC education director Rabishangkar Borgoyary,JP Brahma,IS,Kokrajhar UK Basumatary,SS,Kokrajhar railway station were also present on the occasion.

KOKRAHAR: A sense of alarm has gripped the Jharbari area after a timber smuggler was discovered dead in a firing incident during the early hours of the morning in Kokrajhar. The incident occurred along ride no. 1 under the Jharbari range of the Haltugaon forest division in Kokrajhar district, where the smuggler was fatally shot while transporting logs on a cycle from deep within the forest. Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Narzary has represented India in several international events and is the daughter of Biswajit Narzary of Khagrabari village in Kokrajhar district. A five-day mountaineering training program, organized by the Directorate of Sports & Youth Welfare department of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) government, begins on Thursday at the Dangdupur Hills Site in Kokrajhar.
