Central Assam bandh on Aug 12

Miffed at the decision to set up the proposed AIIMS in North Guwahati, many local organizations and individuals in Raha will stage dharna in Dispur on August 8.

Disclosing this at a press conference in Guwahati on Thursday, the Raha AIIMS Demand Committee leaders said that they will not remain calm unless and until the proposed hospital is set up in the central Assam area.

They said that they would stage dharna at Last Gate in Dispur on August 8 to mount pressure on Dispur to force the Centre to set up the premier hospital in Raha.

Further, they said, many organizations in Raha will enforce 12 hour central Assam bandh on August 12 to outline the demand. “We must not miss the proposed AIIMS. This is our demand. We are ready to face any eventuality,” said the AIIMS demand committee leaders.

People in large number from Raha stagwed dharma in Dispur on Monday reiterating the demand to set up the proposed AIIMS in the area. Led by the Raha AIIMS Demand Committee, the protesters reached the capital city in the morning and started staging the dharna at Last Gate saying that they would remain calm only after the proposed AIIMS is set up in Raha. Talking to Assam Times, a protester said that they are well prepared to face any eventuality for the premier hospital in the central Assam place.

Many local organizations in Raha on Saturday have reiterated the demand to set up the proposed AIIMS in the area. Attending a huge public meeting in Raha, the speakers representing various local organizations have urged the people of the entire district to keep mounting pressure on the governments in Delhi and Dispur to ensure the hospital.
