A group of ministers faced no less wrath of the local people in Raha on Saturday when they visited the family members of Mintu Deori who was killed in police firing on the national Highway No 37. Comprising Chandra Mohan Patowary, Hitendra Nath Goswami, Keshab Mahanta, the team had to face the ire as they promised Rs 5 lakh ex gratia in addition to a government job to one of his family members. Local residents in large numbers surrounded the ministers and questioned them their role in the entire scheme of things.
“What forces the government to ignore the expert committee recommendation? If it so happens they why the government set up the panel?,” a local resident asked the ministers. Patowary said,” this is for the Government of India to take the final call. The ball is in the Centre’s court.” But the local residents refused to read the ministers and pledged to mount pressure on the government on set up the country’s premier hospital.
