Rock climbing training concludes

Summer adventure training camp on Rock climbing as well Hills trekking concluded with a closing ceremony on Monday with created amusement among participant and spectators along the Sonamukhi Hills under Bilasipara subdivision in Dhubri district.

A four day camp was organized by Adventure NGO, Kokrajhar in association with Assam Mountaineering Association to find out sports talents in the region besides preparing to expedite Mount Everest team from BTAD by 2019 next.

Nearly 100 participants from different districts of BTAD and its adjoining districts participated in the summer camp. Participants took training on rock climbing, hills trekking under learned expert and instructors from Assam Mountaineering Association. A closing ceremony was organized to mark first ever summer camp with Maheswar Basumatary, BTC executive member in the chair.

Madhav Prasad Sarma,DC Kokrajhar,Shyamal Prasad Saikia,SP were graced as guests and distributed certificates among trainees. A cultural singing and interaction programme was also organized. DC Sarma appreaciated the camp for budding sports persons in the region.

Dr Jagadish Basumatary,Mrigangka Sarma, Rajani Deury, instructors told that trainees were given training on different points of rock climbing and hills trekking with practical aspects. They also gave jeep line training through rope along hills during training periods.

“The camp imparted training on adventures like rock climbing, hill trekking,jeep line along with key capacity building. The training camp has been emphasizing to hunt sports talents from the region.It was an initiative from Adventure NGO to find budding sports talents in the region, which has been aiming to expedite a Mount Everest team from BTAD by 2019”,instructors said.

Mananjay Daimary, president of Adventure, NGO said that the NGO organized the camp to give training on rock climbing, hill trekking, jeep line among the budding sports persons in the region. A Mount Everest expedite team would be prepared from BTAD region by 2019 which would be guided under Adventure NGO.

“The camp was an initiative from Adventure NGO in Kokrajhar in collaboration with Assam Moutainerring Association. Participants participated with enthusiasts during the camp which encouraged us to lead the programme in healthy manner”, organizer said.

More than sixteen hundred NDFB cadres today formally laid down arms. In a ceremony organised at GMCH auditorium in the presence of chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal 1615 cadres of the outfit submitted their arms before the government authority. Welcoming them to the mainstream chief minister Sonowal hoped that the Paresh Baruah-led ULFA(I) would follow the path of the NDFB. A few days ago the government signed a tripritite peace treaty with all the factions of the NDFB. In the treaty the Centre and state government, reportedly, promised to upgrade the BTAD as BTR.
Several organisations including AAKRASU and ABAMSU have reportedly, called a 12-hour-long Assam bandh on January27 in protest against proposed UTC for BTAD. These organisations are apprehensive that the Union government is going to upgrade the BTC as UTC. Already, they have warned the Union government to abdicate such move.
Several organistions have expressed resentment over the Centre's move to upgrade the Bodo Territorial Council as Union Territorial Council. According to sources the Centre would soon sign a peace pact with the NDFB . In the pact upgradation of the BTC as a UTC would likely to take place, sources revealed. Opposing the move AKRASU, ABAMSU and many other organistaions of the BTAD have warned the Union government to abdicate such decision. These organisations have also termed the proposal as undemocratic.
