The International day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking was observed at Basic Training Center, Kokrajhar with day long programme along with rest of the world.
It was oorganizedby the Kokrajhar District administration, a mass awareness rally was started from Basic Training Centre via fly over, Vevekananda path and concluded at the same point in which people from different sections of the society including students, police personnel, members of various NGOs participated.
BTC deputy chief Kampa Borgoyary and BTC executive member for Sports and Youth Welfare Doneswar Goyary flagged off the rally.
Borgoyary said that uses of drugs with many forms are growing among young generation, which was not a good sign for society. We must stop all kinds drugs uses to check healthy society, otherwise it would be a dangerous situation as drug abusing becoming a serious concern in the region, Borgoyary added.
Madhav Prasad Sarma, Kokrajhar DC said district administration organized the function to bring awareness against use of drugs among society. The peoples should avoid uses of drugs which may cause several disease for human life, he said.
Shyamal Prasad Saikia, SP said that this is a day celebration against drugs and illicit trafficking in the district where peoples from all sections as well students took part. Police and district administration have been stepping to check drugs uses among society through organizing such kind of rally and awareness programme.
Various competitions among the students and youths including speech competition on drug abuse and illicit trafficking, art competition and one act play were also held during the day long programme to create mass awareness among the target groups, especially the youths.
