Assam Police offering opportunity to surrender for top NDFB(S) leaders, including G Bidai said that if they really wanted to surrender, they would be accepted and treated as well as per law of the country.
Meanwhile, four NDFB-S linkmen were apprehended from different places in Kokrajhar district on Friday.
Speaking the reporters on Friday at SP office in Kokrajhar, Dr LR Bishnoi, Assam ADGP and BTAD (IGP) told that the Assam police would be offered good opportunity to the leaders of the NDFB(S) if they really wanted to surrender as per law and positive response would be given them. He said that the police always was ready to give positive response if the militant outfit leaders wish to surrender to the police in the state.
‘We will receive them with positive response if NDFB-S leaders’ come forward to surrender before police or government in the state. We will help them as per the law. Action will be taken as per the law’, Bishnoi said.
According to police, based on source information, three NDFB - S linkmen namely Krwmdwo Basumatary, Sunsuma Basumatary and Bilipang Brahma were apprehended on Friday morning from Owabari village in an operation conducted by Kokrajhar Police. Three stolen bikes have been recovered from them, one of which was supposed to be handed over to a NDFB cadre today, police said. Another Linkman of NDFB-S identified as Kundan Narzary was arrested from Bishmuri in the district.Senior police official said the call details reveal that he is in contact with NDFB-S cadres in Myanmar.
Dr Bishnoi said that so far 40 NDFB-S linkmen have been apprehended in the last 2-3 months, of which 30 in from Kokrajhar and 10 in Chirang district and mobiles and documents seized. These operations are done after specific intelligence input so that no innocent are harsh. He said that due to intensify operation against the rebels, the groups are now using the linkmen and sympathizers in carrying out their activities, including extortions. He also said the NDFB-S is facing shortage of rations in the camps. They have no money to buy rations and other essential in the camps and now targeting local youths, including girls to use them to carry out their activities. He also said that as per information, G Bidai is 4-5 km inside Bhutan and are running out of money in the camp and asking the group in Myanmar to sent money to them. Most of the Central Council leaders are mostly in Myanmar, he added.
Shyamal Prasad Saikia, Kokrajhar SP said that police has been intensified its operation against militant outfit organization and hence activities penetrated by militant outfits have been saw decreasing in the district.
“Police arrested four linkmen of the NDFB-S militant outfits from different places of the district while they were closed contact with militant outfit organization and extortions from businessman, citizen, government employees in the area’, Saikia added.
