Bodoland University Vice-Chancellore Prof. Hemanta Kumar Baruah inaugurated the interntioanl seminar on the topic of ‘Orality:the quest for meaning’ which was organised by department of English,Bodoland University at Bodoland University for two-day programme scheduled ion Kokrajhar.
Over 150 participants from different university and colleges participated,besides resource person and scholars from abroad like USA,Thailand,Estonia,Argentina, were also witnessed the international seminar where they presented orality aspects of different language and literary terms.
Madhav Prasad Sarma,Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner graced as chief guest on the inaugural session.Sarma,in his speech said that the international seminar being organised by Bodoland University was symbol of peace and integration in the region because scholar and researchers arrived in Kokrajhar to attend the seminar from different parts of the country and abroad.
‘We have luck enough to organise such an international event to discuss about orality aspects of different language and literary aspects amongst the communities besides exchanging of cultural traditions’,said Sarma.
Dr john Zemke, editor of Oral Tradition,Columbia,University of Missouri,Dr Onusa Swavanprast,Nareman univerisity,Thailand,Ulo Valk,Tartu University,Estonia attended the seminar and presented their papers.
Dr Sekhar Brahma,Registrar of Bodoland University chaired the inaugural session where students of the university and Bodo cultural troupes presented cultural showcase on the occasion.
