A book named ‘Pratay and Annekhsan: Dulal Royor Sadhana’ has been released in a function in Guwahati on Monday. The book speaks volumes of illustrious life, works and achievements of the noted drama personality who is associated with amateur theatre for the last 53 years.
Dr. Sailen Bharali, noted critic and litterateur, said Roy’s contribution towards the arena of Assamese drama is highly commendable. He said the veteran drama personality is a harbinger of new trend in the field of drama in the state. Noted poet Harekrishna Deka said that Roy has created a revolution in the field of Assamese drama as well as amateur theatre.
Dulal Roy, an alumnus of National School of Drama and FTII in Pune, has directed a number some dramas. He also translated some absurd dramas and later staged these amid higher applause from audience as well as critics. This book has been edited by Utpal Dutta and Nayan Prasad, two renowned art critics. The book contains more than one hundred articles by his former associates and art critics.
Barring a few stray incidents polling for the first phase of panchayat election are over registering a huge turn out in 8 districts on Wednesday.The polling began at 7 in the morning and ended at 3 in the afternoon where 28,680 candidates are in the fray in eight districts. Among them, 643 have contested for the post of zilla parishad member, 2,801 for anchalik panchayat member, 3,099 for gaon panchayat president's post and 22,137.The first phase include Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Sivasagar, Golaghat, Kaliabor, Nagaon Sadar, Lakhimpur and Dhemaji districts.
