Repolling in Gossaigaon LAC, 82% poll turn

Around 82 percent poll  turn was recorded in three constituencies in Kokrajhar district on Monday, besides a repolling was declared for EVM anomalies at 24-polling station at Kachugaon LP school on the second phase Assam assembly polls.

According to Gossaigaon district election officer, the repolling was declared at Kachugaon LP School polling following EVM anomalies during ongoing voting on the day. The anomalies was intimated to the higher authorit of the election commission and date would be fixed whenever it would held, said election officer.

Around 84 percent poll turn was recorded in the district by 5pm, with  84 percent poll in 30-Kokrajhar east LAC,83 percent in 28-Gossaigaon LAC and 81 percent poll turn in 29-Kokrajhar west LAC, an election officer told in Kokrajhar.

Voters from irrespective of communities come out on a enthusiastic mood and turn in long queue to the voting centres to cast their votes o the second phase Assam asembly polls since early morning, the polls was started from 7 am all over the region, included Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) area.

Sitting MLA and BPF candidate for Kokrajhar east LAC Pramila Rani Brahma, UPP candidate Pratibha Brahma cast her vote at Town JB LP school polling centre,BPF candidate for Kokrajhar west Rabiram Narzary his vote at Uttamasen ME school polling station, UPP president and Kokrajhar west candidate Urkhao Gwra Brahma cast his vote at Chalani Batabari LP school polling station, BTC executive member Rajib Brahma cast vote at Bhalukmari LP School polling station in the early morning.

Sitting MLA and BPF candidate for Kokrajhar east Pramila Rani Brahma said, ‘We have been forming alliance government at Dispur on the blessing of citizens’ support.This time common voters are extending support us, besides voting in favour of alliance parties that is why the grand alliance is making their grand scoring of majority results. She also said that her winning is sure for six consecutive terms from Kokrajhar east seat this time too’.

Rabiram Narzary,BPF candidate for Kokrajhar west said, ‘We have(alliance parties) confidence of winning of majority seats in both first and second phase polls in the state.There would be no possibility of winning majority seats from Congress-UPP alliance party,besides AIUDF also less seats in the polls. Government would be formed from BJP led alliance parties’.

UPP president Brahma expressed his hopeful that Congress-UPP alliance party is winning majority seats in both first and second phases polls, government would be formed by alliance party with no doubt.He has claimed that this time common voters are extending support to the Congress-UPP party to gain social integration and uplift among society.

Binay Kumar Brahma, a professor by profession said, ‘We are feeling very excited to be involved to cast our votes on the polls in a peaceful manner.We have cast our votes to elect our peoples representative.Voters come out to be participating in the polls since early morning’.

Sumi Das,a college going student, after participating voting exercise at Vidyapith High School polling station said that it was a happy moment for voters that this time polls was held in a peaceful manner without any incidents in the region.

Pradip Dey,a voter in Uttamachen ME School polling centre said that this is a very peaceful and happy moment to participate in the assembly polls, that was passed off  in enthusiatic situation.

‘We have never seen such a healthy and pleasant situation during polls in the region.It was a laudable arrangement on the day by concern commission’,he said.

KOKRAJHAR: The police nabbed three people with 91 Kgs of Ganja on Karigaon national highway in Kokrajhar on Wednesday.. The arrested persons were identified as Hasanur Rahman, Mithun Miya of Mankachar and Mukesh Kumar of Bihar. The smuggled Ganja was bound for Bihar from Agartala in a Scorpio vehicle, bearing registration no.BR 11V-7551.
BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary was granted bail on Saturday and released against case CR 34/2020, accused of section 120-B/500 IPC from CJM court in Kokrajhar. Pramod Boro, the president of the United People’s Party of Luwahati, filed a complaint against  Mohilary, the former chief of Bodoland Territorial Council, at the court of CJM Kokrajhar for making derogatory remarks about him in February 2020. KOKRAJHAR: Two people were killed on the spot in a late-night road accident in Balajan Pakriguri under Kokrajhar police station. According to police, two people were travelling on a bike and met with mishaps that claimed two people on the spot at a roadside parking dumper in Pakriguri along JD Road late at night around 2.15 am on Tuesday night under Kokrajhar police station. Kokrajhar: The first ever edition of the All Assam Prize Money Non-Ranking Badminton Championship-2021 concluded on Tuesday after a two-day programme was scheduled to be held at the indoor stadium of the Kokrajhar District Sports Association (KDSA) in Kokrajhar district. At least three persons died and several others received injuries due to the lightning struck at Anthaibari under Bengtol police outpost in Chirang district on Wednesday afternoon. According to the source, three persons have died and several other people from Anthaibari area received serious injuries due to heavy lightning this afternoon while people were watching a football match at Anthaibari playground. The injured persons were immediately rushed to the Bengtol missionary hospital where three persons were declared brought dead. Electricity to the Kokrajhar Planetarium and Science center was cut off because there's an outstanding bill of 1.83 lakh. Due to power cutoff, the Kokrajhar Planetarium and Science centre is currently not functional.
