IIE completes 23 years

The Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) celebrated its 23rd Foundation Day at it sLalmati HQ on April 1. The Chief guest on the occasion was Dr Jayanta Madhab, former Director of ADB, Chairman of NEDFi, GTB etc. and an alumni of London School of Economics.  Former Director of IIE, Dr D D Mali, former faculties Dr S K Saikia, Mr P Sarmah also graced the occasion.

Manoj K Das, Director of IIE mentioned that in last one year the institute has seen series  of transition. It was placed under the newly created Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship from May, 2015.  New Ministry is spearheading the skilling and creation of an entrepreneurial culture among the youth. Being a country with more than 60% youth among the population and having only 4.5% skilled manpower, it’s a gigantic task before the policy makers, government and society to keep them engaged in gainful activities. Only an entrepreneurial society will be able to innovate, create enterprises and add value to foster development and provide sustainable livelihood for so many people.

Dr Madhab narrated how he as a country Manager for South Korea saw the leap frogging of the country from an impoverished nation to a developed nation. He said when he visited South Korea first time they used to bow to Indians, because they came from a great country. Today Korean goods have invaded automobile. white goods, telecommunications sector in a pan Indian market. A mantra and hunger for achievement coupled with dedicated leadership can make a nation great. He appreciated IIE’s role as a centre for entrepreneurial culture and wished a bright future for the organisation.

Dr Mali, Dr Saikia, Mr Sarmah, Mr J C Kalita corroborated nostalgic moments of the past. A cashew sapling was planted in the campus by Dr Madhab to mark the occasion.
