Massive violence feared during polls
Despite vigilance of the law enforcement agencies, a number of clashes and attacks took place in the last couple of days in Udalguri district centring first phase assembly elections on April 4. After two separate incidents were two persons from tea community were killed in the district by unknown miscreants few days back.
In yet another incident two college students were attacked by miscreants on Friday night at Bhergaon. Both the students have been identified as Dipankar Rabha (19) and Rituraj Rabha (17) . As per reports both the students were out for pissing at about 8 pm on Friday when a group of miscreants which consisted no less than twenty persons headed by Sandit Boro and Kishor Boro who came in two Tata Sumos and motor-bikes attacked the students with sharp weapons without any formal talks . In the mean time a relative of the victim Jugen Rabha (36) also sustained injuries by a dagger when he came to rescue his kins. In the mean while an F.I.R in this regard has been lodged with the Bhergaon police outpost by the family members of the students.
However, none of the culprits has been arrested till The filling of this report. The students were active members of All Rabha Students Union (ARSU),Bhergaon. The Rabha community and ARSU Bhergaon unit have demanded immediate arrest of the culprits. They have also threatened of mass boycott of polls. If necessary steps are not taken, massive clashes may take place during the election, special sources added.

UDALGURI: A local court in Paneri sent to youths to jail on Wednesday a day after the duo allegedly molested two College girls. According to allegations, the incident took place in Panery beside the Kulsi river where the victims halted for a while one of them was troubled by the bicycle on the way back to the home from college.
