The Kamrup (Metro) district administration in association with Guwahati Press Club organized an awareness program on Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail with Electronic Voting Machine for the benefit of scribes. Addressing the media persons on Wednesday at press club auditorium, the district election officer (also Kamrup-M district magistrate) M Angamathu informed that the VVAT EVM facility would be available for the electorate belonged to all four Assembly constituencies of Guwahati.
Answering queries from the scribes, Angamathu also revealed that he had received a formal request from the city based media fraternity, who are non-native to the city, for providing the facility of postal ballots for them. He admitted that it was valid request and already forwarded the letter to the Election Commission of India.
