Sports Festival on 9th March, 2016

The Director of Sports & Youth Welfare is going to organize Assam Sports Festival on March 9, 2016 with a daylong programme in 27 districts head quarters followed by a state Level Sports Day in Guwahati after few days.

To celebrate the spirit of sports and bonhomie, it has planned activities which can be enjoyed by children, youth and adults alike. Mass Jogging, Traditional Games, Quiz, Drawing Competition etc. are also to be conducted to celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship.

The daylong event will include fun events e.g. Tug of War, Slow Cycle Race, Tekeli Bhanga and also all the other recreational games, Student from V to XII and adults alike can participate in various competition which are planned around the day. All are requested to join and contact with concerned District Sports Office to join the day long sports awareness, programme a success.

It has also been informed that a programme to felicitate budding Sports talent & renowned Sports Persons will be held in the districts as a part of the programme.

The United Liberation Front of Assam (I) handed down the death penalty to two of its cadres for their alleged involvement with espionage. In a press communique, the outlawed outfit said that its two cadres, Sanjiv Sarma and Dhanjit Das, were found to be involved in espionage. An Assam court grants bail to MLA Jignesh Mevani in the assault case and pulls up police for filing false FIR against him. Guwahati: The United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA-I) has alleged a nefarious conspiracy by police and the army to crush their spine, engaging a section of youths who were dispatched to the jungles to join the rebel outfit. In a statement sent to media,  the proscribed outfit claimed to have caught the conspiracy as they grilled a youth from Baihata Chariali in Kamrup who recently joined the outfit.  They have published a list of youths who were trained to target the outfit..
