Former CM Prafulla Mahanta, his son wounded in road accident
Former Assam AGP chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta and his son Subham were injured in a road accident at Bebejia in Nagaon district on Tuesday evening. According to information, Mahanta and his youngest son Shuvam Kashyap suffered minor injuries but his PSO Dinesh Sing was critically wounded when his bulletproof car in which he was traveling hit a parked truck on the national highway 37 at about 7 pm. The Nagaon superintendent of police who rushed to the hospital told reporters that Mahanta suffered an injury in his leg while his son’s nose was wounded in the accident. The PSO who was sitting on the front-seat was critically wounded, the police said that they have been shifted to private nursing home in Nagaon. Mahanta who is shadowed by Z-plus security cover was on his way to Nagaon from Guwahati. Mahanta and his son were treated in the private nursing home.

A guitarist died a tragic death at a road mishap in Raha casting a spell of gloom in the area on Friday.The incident took place when a speeding Indica car rammed into his two wheeler at Phulaguri at noon as he was trying to cross the four lane highway.Identified as Lakshi Prashad Bora, the motorcyclist was a popular guitarist who was an inhabitant of Ghahi Bhaticuri village.

The shocking incident took place at Jongal Balahu Garh when identified as Prafulla Biswas, the person was run over by a Guwahati bound oil tanker as he was trying to cross the four-lane National Highway in the afternoon.

A tiny hamlet in Raha suddenly drew the attention of thousands of the people when a goat gave birth to two kids which resembled a monkey. Tiwa Students on Friday burnt the effigy of Rama Kanta Dewri in Raha to protest the recent attack on two of their colleagues. The students of Raha and Barapujia thronged the National Highway at Raha and burnt the effigy of the TAC chief. Led by ATSU president Prahlad Mosrong, the students further demanded Dewri’s arrest in this connection. The 12-hour middle Assam bandh called by All Tiwa Students' Union (ATSU ) today passed off peacefully at Raha and its neighbouring areas Dharamtul, Ahatguri, Chaparmukh,Barapujia, Phulaguri, Demow without any untoward incident. Two persons sustained injury when a vehicle carrying them met with a mishap near Raha in Nagaon district on Monday. The mishap took place at Bagariguri at 7.30 in the morning. Identified as Moidul Islam and Hibzur Rahman, the injured were rushed to the Nagaon Civil Hospital.
In a major breakthrough, police have caught three notorious gang of car lifters in Nagaon on Thursday. Identified as Madan Ali, Anowal Islam and Ananta Deka where caught in Roha on their way to upper Assam from Guwahati. Police further recovered the car they lifted from Gorchuk area in Guwahati in the wee hours. Further investigation is going on.
