47th Nam Yagna and Dihanam concludes at Kalaigaon

The 47th Akhonda Nam Yagna and district level Dihanam competition concludes at Kalaigaon on January 26. The event was organized by Sankari Kolakristi Bikash Kendra,Kalaigaon at Sri Sri Bhagawat Mandir premises during January 23 to 26. The programme had started on January 23 with the wecome ceremony of the Baishnabs of Udalguri and Darrang districts at 5 pm followed by a huge Bhagawat cultural rally on January 24 which was inaugurated by DN Hazarika,SDO(S),Udalguri.District level Dihanam competition was organized on January 25 from 9 am.All together 21 groups from Udalguri and Darrang participated in the competition. On the concluding day on January 26, quiz and extempore speech competition on Srimanta Sankardev was held which was inaugurated by Arup Kumar Borah,SDO,ASEB,Kalaigaon.


The open session was held at 1 pm which was presided over by noted social worker Kami Ram Saharia.Gautam Bayan of Sankari Xotria cultural College Barpeta and Deben Nath,vice president,Srimanta Sankardev Sangha,Darrang attended the open session as distinguished guest and appointed speaker respectively.The open session was also addressed by social worker Mahendra Saikia,senior journalist Jayanta Das, teacher Bandhu Ram Saharia etc.The winners of the Dihanam competition were awarded in the open session. No.1 Amguri Bishnu Mandir Namoti Dal won Freedom Fighter Pani Ram Das memorial trophy along with rupees three thousand as first prize,while Bagicha Chuba Namoti Dal,Bahjani Namoti Dal,Monikanchan Namoti Dal of Bokrajhar and Borpukhuri Siba Gohain Namoti Dal won second,third,fourth and fifth prizes respectively.Lohit Chandra Nath,secretary,Sankari Kalakristi Bikash Kendra, Kalaigaon anchored the proceedings of the prize giving ceremony.
