Altogether seven rooms comprising two class rooms, teachers’ common-room, exam-cell, two office establishment rooms and Vice-Principal’s office room were completely devoured in a fire incident that occurred here at Daying Ering Higher Secondary School, Pasighat on Saturday night at around 2.35 AM. Reportedly, two firefighters reached immediately at 2.41 AM, doused the inferno within three hours, and brought normalcy as a result rest parts of the school. Among others, Advisor to Chief Minister Bosiram Siram and DIGP (Central Range) LH Shanliana also visited the school.
East Siang DC Isha Khosla along with DDSE Obuk Panor and Genden Tsumo DDMO rushed to the school early this morning and took stock of extensive damage caused by the inferno. Interacting with the Principal and Vice Principal, she instructed them to arrange alternative arrangements immediately in the school auditorium to continue teaching-learning process without any break. The DC directed the police to ascertain the actual cause of the incident and instructed the authorities of all the academic institutions and offices to switch- off all electrical appliances before leaving their respective workplaces on regular basis.
Giving details, the principal and vice principal of the school P Rukbo and Vice Principal Aroti Padung Pada respectively informed that all important documents of the school and the students, all computers, all steel almirahs, Zerox machine, furniture etc were reduced into ashes. Internal board exam of Class-IX and XI on 1st February and 1st March for Class X and XII are scheduled to be held but burning of all valid documents and board provided answer scripts are matter of concern, duo added. They also appealed the visiting DC to take initiative to construct toilets for faculties and boys on priority.
Meanwhile, Loksabha MP Ninong Ering who had adopted the school last year has expressed shock and assured that he would do his best for betterment of the school soon. Local MLA Kaling Moyong termed the incident as unfortunate. Further, in his message Moyong has assured that he would extend all possible and pursue the government for necessary fund. Taking privilege, the MLA informed that government had assured him to spare funds for reconstruction of two rooms for fire gutted Gandhi Secondary School, Pasighat last year and still under process to release. Advisor to Chief Minister Bosiram Siram while visiting and taking stock of the incident informed that he has already conveyed the message to the Chief Minister and sought immediate help from the government. He also assured the school fraternity that the matter would be taken up with the concerned minister. Siram assured to convince the district administration and director of school education to provide computers, printers, Zerox machine and furniture etc so that normal functioning are not hampered. He also assured to connect water supply immediately to the school with the nearby overhead water reservoir/tank on priority. He advised the school authority to construct G+2 buildings in future keeping wide open space inside the school.

Deputy Commissioner Isha Khosla reviewed the law and order situation at a meeting with the magistrate and police officers in Pasighat township on Tuesday.Khosla reviewed the crime scene discussed the charge sheet and production of UTPs. He also directed police to bring the investigation to its logical conclusion in a time bound manner.
