Altogether five people died and more than forty injured in lower Assam’s Baska district when suspected ULFA militants made a powerful strike at the Kumarikata weekly market on Sunday with a blast. According to information, the blast took pace at around 1-30 afternoon and the bomb was stripped at a bicycle which let off immediately after the militants who planted it escaped unhurt.
Four persons in the market teeming with hundreds of people died on the spot while more than fifty others have been left injured. A seriously injured person died on the way to the Guwahati medical College Hospital. Twenty three injured people have been admitted in the Guwahati Medical College Hospital. Eight of these people have been struggling for life.
No out fit has not so claimed the responsibility and police have been remaining clueless but the involvement of ULFA cannot be denied as the entire area is known to be area of operation of ULFA’s 709th battalion. Police and security forces are cordoning off the area to apprehend the culprits involved in it.

Peeved at Pradeep Kumar Brahma’s arrest in connection with BTAD violence, BPF on Thursdy threatened to withdraw support from the Tarun Gogoi government. BPF leaders have alleged that Brahma is a victim of political conspiracy and that his arrest was unwanted. They said that AIUDF president Badaruddin Ajmal is the main culprit of the entire gory episode. Karnataka deputy Chief Minister R Ashoka is set to visit north eastern states very soon to invite the people who left the state at the height of mass exodus.
