Adieu Chino Basumatary

A tearful adieu bid was given to senior journalist and editor of Bodosa daily late Chino Basumatary at his birth place Bhaulaguri Kashikotra in Chirang district today. 

Relative, well wisher and journalist fraternity from Kokrajhar and Chirang districts thronged at hix residence to paid last respect to Basumatary and buried after performing Hindu rituals.

BTC deputy chief Kampa Borgoyary, Dr Kameswar Brahma, president of Bodo sahitya sabha, ex MP Urkhao Gwra Brahma among others were prominent attendees on the funeral function.

Basumatary, trustee of Media Trust, Assam, editor cum proprietor of Bodosa daily passed away on Tuesday morning at International Hospital, Guwahati after prolong ailing.

Two jehadis arrested

Police apprehended two Muslim Fundamentalist cadres from Gossaigaon and Guwahati in two separate search operations on Monday night.  According to BTAD (IGP) LR Bishnoi, Chirang, Kokrajhar and City police jointly conducted search operation against Muslim fundamentalist and able to arrest two cadres from Gossaigaon of Kokrajhar district and Guwahati.  They were identified as Jahidul Islam of Tulsibil and Pota Miyan of Tulsibil of Kokrajhar district.  A factory made pistol, two round bullets were recovered from them.   

Junior Archery championship concluded

Kokrajhar district team spotted first with won 9 gold medals in the  All Assam Inter District Junior Archery Championship,2015,concluded  today after two-day programme scheduled at KDSA ground in Kokrajhar. BTC executive member Rajib Brahma graced the prize dsitribution ceremny as chief guest and distributed prizes among aprticipants. Daizy Basumatary crowned Miss Haina

Daizy Basumatary crowned Miss Haina with winning in the Bodoland Fashion Hunt Miss Haina, 2016. This is the first ever in Bodoland as well Lower Assam region, has been organized by Nexus Entertainment at Bodofa Cultural complex on Sunday in Kokrajhar. She was awarded cash Rs. 25,000 along with crown and citation. Sikha Dutta Brahma and Priyangka Basumatary were adjusted first runners up and second runners up and awarded cash Rs. 20,000 and Rs.15,000 respectively. Dansy Rani Basumatary and Nandita Basumatary were adjusted as Miss Photogenic and Miss Personality in the show.

ABSU hails Gogoi's announcement

The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) welcomed the chief minister Tarun Gogoi announcement of fulfilling various long standing demands of the Bodos which include inclusion of villages of Sonitpur district under Panchayati Raj, separate Directorate for Bodo medium and declaration of Bodo language as associate official language of Assam among others during the interim Budget session of Assam Assembly. Bodo sahitya sabah slams Assam sahitya sabha

The Bodo sahitya sabha has slammed the Assam sahitya sabha for it's insincerity remarks on Bodo sahitya sabha on language policy adoption in the state.  Speaking the reporters today at RNB Bhawan in Kokrajhar, Dr Kameswar Brahma, president and Kamala Kanta Mushahary, general secretary of the Bodo sahitya sabha said that the Bodo sabha was not stand against of any language in the state. Bengtol Catholic Mission golden jubilee from Feb 4

A two-day scheduled programme of the 11th All Assam Inter District Junior Archery Championship,2015 has gets underway from today at KDSA ground in Kokrajhar. Anundaram Borooah award distributed

A total of 886 students were given away Laptop, Computers under Anundaram Borooah award among first division passed out students of HSLC examination at a function held at Basic Training Centre today in Kokrajhar. Dotma HSS celebrated Platinum Jubilee

The Platinum Jubilee celebration of Dotma Higher Secondary School was concluded today after three-day long programme scheduled at school ground in Kokrajhar.  An open meeting was held on the concluding day today with Garga Mahan Das, president of celebration committee and Dotma Revenue circle officer in the chair.  The Dotma HS school was established in 1938 and dedicated towards building educational environment in the area.  BTC deputy chief Kampa Borgoyary graced as chief guest.
