Pre-centenary celebration of Assam Sahitya Sabha at Kalaigaon

The two days long pre-centenary celebration of Asom Sahitya Sabha came to an end at Kalaigaon on December 27.The programme was organized at Kalaigaon public play ground by Kendukolai Sahitya Samaj.On the concluding day on December 27,ninety eight  distinguished people hoisted same number of Sabha flags at 9 am to mark the beginning of the centenary celebration of Asom Sahitya Sabha. Jagadish Sarkar,EM,BTC;Mukunda Ram Choudhury, MLA,Kalaigaon;DN Hazarika SDO(S), Udalguri; Nabin Chandra Boro,Inspector of Schools, Udalguri; former Kalaigaon MLAs- Maheswar Boro and Mahendra M Rai Choudhury; senior social workers Kami Ram Saharia and Mahendra Saikia etc were among the distinguished people hoisting ninety eight Sabha flags, while Abul Hussain,president Kendukalai Sahitya Samaj of Kalaigaon hoisted the main Sabha flag.It was followed by painting and quiz competition for children and another session “Ramdhenu” for youths.Noted journalist Mukut Raj Sarma anchored the flag hoisting and felicitation ceremony.

Earlier on December 26 a memorial session was held in the morning to offer homage to departed souls of former officials and workers of Asom Sahitya Sabha.At 3 pm another event “Akash” was organized for woman and girls of Kalaigaon area. Hundreds of woman and girls in and around Kalaigaon took part in the programme.Binu Deka Saikia and Bijuli Deka Das conducted the event.
