A bench of comprising Justice Hrishikesh Roy on Thursday stayed the entire assembly session procedure on Wednesday where Nabam Rubia was replaced was Speaker. The stay would be in force till February 1, 2016.
BJP along with 14 dissident Congress legislators on Thursday claimed to have been preparing to form a new government with Khaliko Pul as Chief Minister at the alleged instance of Governor JP Rajkhowa who lands in no less controversy when he preponed the assembly session from January 16 next year to December 16 this year keeping the government at Speaker at bay.
These unwanted schemes of things have reached the court when Speaker Nabam Reiba moved a petition before the Gauhati High Court seeking a stay. The court kept in abeyance the session proceedings which took place outside the assembly house in the absence of Chief Minister Nabam Tuki and his loyalists who called the session unconstitutional.
Much to a major disappointment for BJP and dissident Congress MLAs, the court further stayed the floor test against Nabam Tuki on Thursday.
Former Union minister and top lawyer appear before the court on behalf of Nabam Reiba.
