The tribal people and other backward classes were not aware of how maintenance could be?,he added.

Swmdwn Narzary,BEEO Kokrajhar said about the challenges faced in implementation of RTE Act. He also added we that we people are the government so it is the time we can initiate and seek forward children’s development and their entitlement rights.

The Convention defines a 'child' as a person below the age of 18, unless the laws of a particular country set the legal age for adulthood younger. The Convention applies to all children, whatever their race, religion or abilities; whatever they think or say, whatever type of family they come from. Child Protection is about protecting children from or against any risk to their life and their childhood. It is about reducing their vulnerability to any kind of harm and ensuring that no child falls out of the protective and social safety net and that those who do, receive necessary care, protection and support so as to bring them back into the safety net. Countless children are been exploited, trafficked, molested, abducted and neglected also abused; these issues happened just because of conflict and riots hits in the BTC. As countless children are remained such as socially excluded, illiterate and abused also their rights and entitlements are been exploited; here Nedan foundation is taking initiative to empower and letting children to move out from risks zone to comfort zone in collaboratively with BTC administration and others CSOs.

On the one day consultation, many things have been covered/ discussed with various stakeholders from BTC administration Social welfare BTC, education Department BTC, Child protection unit from Kokrajhar. The discussion took places on various issues related to children development and well being such as exploitation, trafficking, violation of rights, abduction, child labour, abuse, child marriages and other forms of issues, besides discussed about the mechanism issues in BTC related to RTE Act implementation in forest encroachment villages like Ultapani, Saralpara and Lungsung. The consultation also really figured out RTE Act 2009 in details. The SMC roles and functions were also discussed in a very well and effective way.

This one day BTC consultation brings out some recommendation such as training for SMS on RTE Act., Life skill training for adolescents peer groups and child protection policy for BTC etc.
