Once again the National Green Tribunal gets tougher with the Assam government alleging its failure to deal with the rampant encroachment in Kaziranga.
The panel further is unhappy with the commercial establishments on the National Highway No 37.
Headed by the Chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar, the panel said, " We find it difficult to understand why there are not dhabas. The expert have seen it. Check the areas and roads through which the animals pass.
Our intention is that the park and animals should be protected."
The panel further asked the KNP director M K Yadava, to submit a detail report on the various aspects of commercial activities within 10 km of the boundary of the national park within 15 days.
The state government will have to apprise it of the measures to prevent animal deaths on the roads by vehicular movement.
