Six arrested

In the follow up of the busting of a training camp of Muslim fundamentalist in Chirang district in September last, Chirang police today arrested  6 more Jehadi fundamentalist from different locations across the three district of Chirang, Kokrajhar and Goalpara district .

Talking to Reporters at Kajalgaon in Chirang, LR Bishnoi, BTAD IGP based on inputs and interrogation, chirang police have arretsed 6 more fundamentalist since last evening.

He said that police who are carrying out investigation on the case arretsed Md. Anser Ali,( 27), of Bhabanipur B-block under Barbari police station in Baksa from Barama area in Baksa. 'Based on his revelation, one Md. Ikram Hussain,( 25), of Hedayatpur, under Barbari police station in Baksa), who was member of the training camp at Dawkhanagar was arretsed from Barbari today morning hours. The Chirang Police along with CRPF at the same time apprehended one Md. Abdul Rezzak, (22), of Chourabari under Bijni police station in Chirang) at Chapaguri area in Chirang, he said. 

The senior police officer said on spot interrogation and on being led by Rezzak, recovered one country made Revolver with 2 rounds ammunition and 12 pairs of camouflage uniform from his rented house at Santipur area. 'Again, on his revelation, one Md. Monirul Islam alias Ashik Burabhai, (48),of Simlajhar under Gobardhana police station in Baksa, was apprehended from Chaprakata Dawkhanagar and recovered one revolver along with 5 rounds live ammunition from his possession. Thereafter, Burabhai led the police team to Gossaigaon where Md Saddam Hussain,( 28), of Dawkhanagar under Dhaligaon police station in Chirang was apprehended from Gossaigaon around 9. 30 am, he said adding that 'Further from there, he led the police team to Goalpara and apprehended one Md Makibul alias Laskar,( 20), son of Md Ramzan Ali of Satomuri Mayabazar village under Krishnai police station in Goalpara district from Krishnai area around 1 pm. 

On his revelation, Chirang police recovered one country made rifles from Dawkhanagar under Dhaligaon police station, he said.

Bishnoi said  10 cadres were arretsed in the operation and 10 country made rifles, 2 country made Insas rifles, 12 pairs of hunting shoes, 12 pairs of socks, 12 belts, 12 pairs of anklet, 11 camouflage cap and 14 pairs of camouflage uniforms, 12 mobiles from them.

He said that the recruitment and training of cadre for jehad from various districts was taking place by indoctrination led and funded by Burabhai. In septamber last, Chirang police busted a training camp of a Muslim fundamentalist organisation at Dawkhanagar under Dhaligaon police station in Chirang.

An emergency response mock drill was conducted by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) at Habrubari in Kokrajhar district on Friday,which was a part of offsite emergency mock on the IOCL Guwahati-Siliguri underground pipeline to test the preparedness of its emergency personnel.
