A peace meeting was organised by the Chirang district administration at Nangdorbari in Chirang district among the villagers of Nangdorbari, Mohanpur and neighboring areas over the prevailing situation in the area on Saturday.
The meeting was attended by BTC deputy chief Kampa Borgoyary, Sidli MLA and former minister Chandan Brahma, senior official from the district administration including Additional Superintendent of police and magistrate.
A peace committee was later formed among the villagers with Santipur police outpost officer incharge as adviser.
BTC deputy chief Borgoyary has appealled all to maintain peace and harmony and thwart anti-social elements from creating any untowards incidents that may create tension in the area.
Nangdorbari- Mohanpur and neighbouring area is under tense situation over rumour of communal tension over the last few days.
