Children's day in Tangla

Students of Arunodoi Academy Tangla celebrated Children's day in a special way. The students under the guidance of Principal of the academy Napolean Daimari distributed food packets among the patients of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha Hospital, Tangla. Hospital authorities thanked the initiative of the students. Arunodoi Academy has been taking charitable works in the area for the last several years in the interest of society. The school students also donated used clothes and cash in the charity fund.

UDALGURI: The Udalguri district committee of All Koch-Rajbongshi Students’ Union (AKRSU) is preparing to enforce a 24 hour long Udalguri district bandh on February 15 alleging failure of BTAD administration to keep its promises. Talking to reporters, Aranya Deka, A Saikia and B. Rajbongshi, alleged that despite full support to the ruling BPF in the last BTC elections, the BTC authority did not fulfill its assurance to construct a students’ hostel for the community at Udalguri and intentionally directed to construct it outside Udalguri town area.The decision was taken at a district unit meeting of AKRSU, where the leaders criticized the present role of the BTC authority in the region.
TANGLA: Don Basumatary and Pankaraj Deuri emerged champion in mens double category in the 5th edition of the Prize Money Open Badminton Tournament which at Tangla Badminton Association Indoor stadium on Sunday night. Altogether 121 shuttlers from various parts of the country participated in the event where the champions received Rs. 15,000 while Amit Saha and Irengbam Yaitomba bagged runners up trophy along with cash prize of Rs.8,000.     B.K Pegu and Prasanna Taye emerged champion in veteran mens double category while Someswar Bhuyan and  Bale Basumatari bagged runners up along with cash prize of Rs. 10,000 and 5000 respectively.

UDALGURI: The Sikh community of Udalguri and Darrang celebrated the 350th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Gobind Singh with religious fervour at Tangla in Udalguri on Friday. They celebrated the occasion at the Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha. Sikh devotees, including women and children, from different parts of the district gathered at the Gurudwara since morning and offered their prayers.Devotees read out the scriptures of Sukhmani Sahib and recited kirtan, which spread the messages of love and harmony among the people. Devotees also participated in Langar (community feasting) on the ocassion.
UDALGURI: The Gorkha students in BTAD areas are not at all happy with BTC. The council has been running without anybody to represent them. Along with the other parts of the country Christmas was celebrated with gaiety and religious fervour in the town, with midnight mass ringing in the festivities to mark the birth of Jesus Christ. TANGLA: Noted Bodo writer Dr.Rita Baro has fetched no less pride to the people of Assam when she was declared the recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award in Bodo language. Dr Baro has been named for Sahitya Akademi award for her short-novel, 'Thwisam'. TANGLA,Dec 3: Fear psychosis grips the people of Khoirabari two days after the security forces eliminated ULFA top leader Rajen Deka which is shrouded in dire controversy.
