Rajkhowa visits Tawang tourists sites
During his three days visit to Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh Governor JP Rajkhowa landed at some of the tourism related infrastructures on Monday and came to know the huge potential for tourism, particularly for eco and adventure tourism.
He said that to harness these bounties and for tourism to flourish, in addition to good roads, the State must have good tourism infrastructures, such as guesthouses, restaurants and other wayside amenities.
Visiting the Presidential Suite of the tourist guesthouse, near the Circuit House, which is under repair for some electrical faults, he advised the officials to ensure that regular checks are carried out of electrical appliances and maintenance done.
He emphasised on annual maintenance, inspection, mega checking of all the facilities by the concerned departments and use of ‘ISI’ (Bureau of Indian Standards) marked appliances. He said that such precautions will not only ensure longevity of infrastructure but also provide safe and comfortable stay to the guests.
Before returning to Itanagar, he also visited Tawang Rope-way and took a ride. He lauded the tourism department for the facility and said that it is a very good tourism initiative in the district.
District Tourism Officer, Tawang, Tsering Dekey informed that the Tawang Ropeway, funded by DoNER (NLCPR) at the cost of Rs.330.89 lakh, has a rope length of 1184 Metres running from Tawang Monastery to Gyangong Ani Gompa. It is one of the most popular tourism facilities in Tawang.
