New NCHAC body on Saturday

A special session of the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council is expected to pave the way for forming a BJP-led executive body on Saturday. The session is all set to begin at 10 in the morning at Haflong to allow BJP to form the new executive body to run the council a week after the Debojeet Thaosen-led body resigned.

BJP has already staked its claim to the form the executive body after more Congress members joined the party in addition to the support from others. Thaosen resigned as chief executive member after he lost his majority forcing the authority to convene a special session. Council chairman Namrathong Hmar is making arrangements as per rules to form a new executive committee run the council.
