Road sector boost

The Arunachal Pradesh government’s commitment to provide the Capital Complex with cement concrete roads turns into a reality. The construction of CC roads and pavements is being taken up in almost entire colony roads sector roads in the Capital Complex.

A total of 22.76kms of CC pavement road was sanctioned during 2014-15 for twin capital cities of Itanagar and Naharlagun of which 2.51kms and 6.63kms were completed in 2014 itself.  All CC pavement works are being executed through tenders.

The construction had to be discontinued in April as monsoon approached. However, restoration work resumed from 1st week of October and has gained momentum since then. The work is taking place in full progress as it has already completed total length of 0.50km in Itanagar and 1.04 km in Naharlagun respectively. Workers could be seen working tirelessly till the wee hours in the morning.

Chief Secretary Ramesh Negi alongwith T kamchi, SE Capital Circle PWD and Taniya Soki, EE CDA had inspected the ongoing works of CC pavement at Senkhi Park road, Itanagar and maintenance works of Itanagar - Jote road recently.

The chief secretary has asked the department to complete maintenance of Itanagar-Jote road by November 10 next and further ensure completion of works within the stipulated time period with quality. He further informed that any activity of earth cutting on hill side leading to accumulation of earth on road formation, blockade of side drain, culverts and also on valley side endangering erosion of formation width inviting additional construction of protection works should be reported to Deputy Commissioner ICC and Chief Estate Officer cum District Magistrate immediately for needful follow up action.

Briefing on the ongoing work scenario, the SE further informed that the balance work of 10.42 km in Itanagar and 1.66 k m in Naharlagun shall be completed by March 2016.
