Altogether five brilliant students who secured positions in the last HSLC and HS examinations for the year 2014 & 2015 were  felicitated and handed over cheque amounting Rs 2 lakhs each by the Director of Education, BTC .

BTC deputy chief, handed over the cheques at his office chamber at the BTC Secretariat in Kokrajhar today. 

Among the students receiving the cheques are Hriday Jyoti Ojha from National Pioneer College, Tangla of Ualguri, who stood 5th position in the HS in 2014, Ashim Majumdar of St John’s HS school, Barama of Baksa who stood 4th position in the HSLC in 2015, Bibekajyoti Boro of Sankardev Vidyaneketan, Tamulpur in Baksa, 10 position in the HSLC in 2015, Aithjhya Bhaduri and Priyasa Kundu, both  of Bongaigaon Refinery HS school, Dhaligaon in Chirang and secured 5th and 8th position respectively in the HSLC 2015.

Borgoyary said that the BTC authority was   working to encourage the students to work hard and council will be giving helping hand to brilliant students who are aspired tithe good career in their higher studies. He said 18 students from the Bodoland region who have been selected and got admitted in the IIT and IIM will also be given the incentive for their higher studies. 

Borgoyary also said that BTC authority will give scholarships to 25-30 brilliant students preparing for UPSC examination from the region.

Moinul joins BPF

Founder president of the All BTC minority Students Union(ABMSU) and main culprit of BTAD riot 2012 Moinul Haque today joined to the BPF  party along with his supporters at a meeting held at Kajalgaon in Chirang district.Haque joined the BPF party along with his supporters in the presence senior party leaders’ party to gain strengthening of party ahead of parliamentary election and paving way to win Kokrajhar Lok Sabha seat.Menwhile, the ABMSU expelled Haque for his anti organization activity and termed that he is taking political step for his personal interest.

2 NSLA held

Security forces apprehended two cadres of National Santhali Liberation Army (NSLA), a militant outfit of Adivasi community from Telipara under Gossaigaon police station on Monday night in Kokrajhar district.The cadres were identified as Albert Murmu and Lapun Kisku. Police recovered one shot gun, pistol and grenade from their possession. 

NDFB killed

A hardcore cadre of NDFB(Songbijit faction) identified as Nijwm Basumatry was killed in an encounter with security forces at Pepsu Road along India-Bhutan border under Kachugaon police station  late last night in Kokrajhar district.Police said that security forces belonging to Assam police and army conducted an operation in Pepu area under Kachugaon police station in Gossaigon sub-division in the district of Kokrajhar late last night where an exchange of fire was held and a NDFB cadre died on the spot.Police recovered,  one 9 mm pistol and grenade from slain militant cadre.

Ward commissioner dies in mishap

A person was died and four others sustained serious injured when a vehicle skidded at Daloabari late last evening in Kokrajhar.Hira Rani Brahma (55), Ward Commissioner for 10 Kokrajhar town, was succumbed to Hospital this morning at a private hospital in Kokrajhar, who was admitted to hospital last evening due to road mishap when their vehicle skidded at Daloabari village under Kokrajhar police station and four others were received serious injured, of which one referred to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital and three are taking treatment in Kokrajhar.Brahma along with her colleagues visited Daloabari village on Monday to take stock of religious conversion incident and met mishap. 2 nomination papers rejected in Kokrajhar

The nomination of Salkan Murmu of Jharkhand Disom Party (JDP) and Haricharan Basumatary (Independent) found invalid and rejected during scrutiny in No. 5 Kokrajhar  Lok Sabha (ST) constituency. Kokrajhar DC and Returning Officer Nitin Khade said the nomination of Murmu and Basumatary were rejected.A total of nine candidates have filed nomination, of which seven found valid to contest in the ensuing election from Kokrajhar HPC.Kokrajhar Lok Sabha Constituency, the election to which is on April 24. The date of withdrawal is Wednesday (April 9). 

Price of religious conversion

Cry for justice
