MPs stress peace & harmony

Arunachal Pradesh MP Ninnong Ering on Saturday urged the people to help the police and administration to maintain peace and harmony in the state. Addressing a function organized to open Mary’s Catholic Church at Rayang Village he exhorted the people to carry back home the inaugural message of love in the new church building by Fr Augustine P A and to spread it to the fellow beings.

In his speech Rajya Sabha MP Mukut Mithi said that besides imparting education and religious teachings, Catholic Mission should also help to preserve the traditional values like culture and language of the indigenous people of the state. He lauded the Catholic

Mission for imparting quality education to the people of state with zeal and expressed hope that they will carry forward the mission of imparting education with the same zeal. He also said to maintain peace and brotherhood among different communities in the district. Mithi further promised measures to develop a children park in the premises of the church and also to look into the approach road to the church building.

Much to the respite of Nabam Tuki, the Supreme Court on Monday refused to clear a Gauhati High Court’s order for CBI probe into a 10 year old allegation against the Chief Minister. The apex court, however, will hear the plea on November 16. The Gauhati High Court ordered a CBI probe against Tuki on August 21 into allegations abusing his official position as PWD minister in awarding vital contracts to his relatives without inviting tenders. Tuki had challenged the order by filing a special leave petition later in the Supreme Court, which stayed the high court ruling. The case will be heard again on November 16.

The Arunachal Pradesh government has struck a deal with Numaligarh Refinery Limited on Friday for sourcing bio-ethanol from available non-food bio-mass feedstock bamboo in the north eastern state. The project is proposed to be implemented in 2 years time.The pacts were signed at a brief function in presence of Chief Minister’s office in Itanagar. Chief Minister Nabam Tuki, NRL officials and Arunachal Pradesh Bamboo Resources Development Agency officials were present in the meeting. Rajib Changkakati, Atanu R Sharma represented NRL.
