Does the north eastern region in fact survives only in the geographical map of India? Why armed conflict refuses to die down in the region? The real picture is expected to come up when Dr Sanjib Barua will deliver his lecture on the nation and the north east on Tuesday.
Scholar Dr Baruah will deliver his lecture at the Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha Hall in Cotton at 3 in the afternoon. The programme is being organized by the Guwahati campus of the Tata Institute of Social Science.
Dr Baruah, an honorary research professor at Centre for Policy Research and professor of political studies at Bard College, New York will discuss how this peculiar relationship has come about; touching on the region’s contentious politics including armed conflicts, the peace settlements, and the growing pull of livelihood opportunities in the ‘mainland.’
