Mrinal Saikia targets Rockybul
Nagaon BJP leader Mrinal Saikia’s target now is none other than Rockybul Hussain. Saikia has accused the former forest minister of aiding and abetting the Nagaon Deputy Commissioner to mislead the court with wrong affidavit in the Gauhati High Court.
Addressing a press conference in Golaghat on Thursday, Saikia charged Hussain with trying to safeguard the interest of those who has been encroaching the Bandardubi, Deochar Sang and Palkhowa areas in Kaziranga. According to Saikia, Bandardubi, Deochar Sang and Palkhowa have been the animal corridors for decades. He strongly criticized the government for failing to evict the encroachers before August 12.
He further alleged that the Nagaon DC was misleading the Court by giving wrong information in his affidavit regarding encroachment and eviction.

Golaghat Police today apprehended a dreaded Maoist leader from Khakandguri under Dergaon. The dead body of a teenager named Babu Das of Arengapara in Golaghat who went missing in the Dhansiri river on Monday was recoverd today at the river by some fisherman.The deceased came with his friends for swimming in the river two days ago and went missing. Local people and SDRF personnels had searched for him but all went in vain.

A moving train crushed one pedestrian to death in Golaghat leaving the entire district in utter shock amid the Vijaya Dasami festivities on Friday. The incident took place in the evening who was hit by the moving train as he was trying to cross the road.
