Blood Donation Day was observed in Golaghat on Thursday along with other parts of the country. Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital in Golaghat took out an awareness rally which was inaugurated by superintendent Dr Nizra Devi. Dr Jayant Borgohain also spoke on the occasion.

Draft electoral roll out in Golaghat

The authorities in Golaghat district have published draft electoral rolls of No 95 Golaghat and No 96 Khumtai assembly constituencies according to the Election Commission guidelines. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Election) David Kumar Timung and District Election Officer Jitu Kumar Das, the draft voter list was published on Monday. There has been provision for claims and objections for the voters and for the Khumtai constituency the claims and objections would be dealt till November 11. Former minister cremated in Golaghat

The mortal remains of Prabin Kumar Gogoi consigned to flames after the lifeless AGP veteran arrived in Golaghat on Tuesday.  His fans thronged in thousands at his residence as soon as the body arrived to be followed by last respect to the former minister.Then his body was taken with a huge procession to the cremation ground. Many people deplored that the minister was cremated with full state honour. Gogoi died at the Gauhati Medical College Hospital on Monday after prolonged illness.

Truck crushed by speeding train

A truck driver had a narrow escape when a speeding train rammed into the vehicle he was driving in Golaghat district of Assam on Monday. The incident took place at Khakandguri where the Kamakhya Express rammed into the mini truck bearing no. NL-01/A-5991 as it was crossing the unmanned level crossing. The mini truck was left mangled badly in the incident.

Pall of gloom descends in Golaghat district when senior AGP leader Probin Gogoi died after prolonged illness in Guwahati on Monday. The end came for the founder AGP leader at 10-30 in the morning at the Guwahati Medical College Hospital where he was undergoing treatment. Hundreds of BJP leaders and workers hit the streets in Golaghat on Friday alleging utter misgovernance and cancerous corruption in public life in the entire state. Girl taken ill after taking iron tablet

In yet another incident that forces many people to shy away from Tejswi, a minor is battling for life in Golaghat minutes after she was administered folic acid. The incident took place at No 1 Senchowa LP School where Ruprekha Bora started vomiting as soon as she consumed folic acid tablet. The Class I student could not speak and even move her tongue. Nagaon BJP leader Mrinal Saikia’s target now is none other than Rockybul Hussain.
