Army recruitment rally

The airmen recruitment rally conducted by the Indian Air Force at Dera Natung College saw as many as108 candidates apprearing in Group Y(non- technical) and 28 candidates appearing in group X(technical).
Out of the appeared candidates, 20 got selected in group Y and 2 got selected in group X. Those selected would undergo final medical test at Tezpur.

ABSU candidates win UDSU polls

Alexon Narzary will soon take over as the General Secretary of Udalguri College Students Union. His name was formally announced on Tuesday a day after the UCSU held elections. Vice president is Sripondel Narzari while Jelsing Basumatary is the assistant general secretary of the student union. According to a statement issued in Udalguri by the local ABSU general secretary Songit Basumatary, cultural secretary of the college student body is Swgwmsar Boro. Barul Basumatary is secretary for games and sports while literature secretary is Durga Boro. Kartik Daimari is secretary for social service while the boys common room secretary is Kwrwmdow Boro. His female counterpart (girls’ common room secretary) is Ranjali Boro. Odulguri ABSU president Nitul Boro and general secretary Songit Basumatary have congratulated the newly elected body of the Udalguri College Students' Union.

Kokrajhar clash toll goes up to 15

The death toll in Kokrajhar rose to 15 on Sunday. Three more bodies, including of a woman and her child, were recovered from the banks of river Gouranga while another body was recovered from Kathalbari area. Night curfew was reimposed from the evening on Sunday with Section 144 CrPC in force in the entire district till further orders. The violence also spread to neighbouring Chirang district where a vehicle was burnt. Strict vigil was kept in sensitive pockets and already six additional companies deployed with three more on way. The district and police administration of the neighbouring districts have also been asked to be vigilant.

ULFA(I) rebel held in Pengeri

TINSUKIA: Security forces claimed to have apprehended a hardcore ULFA(I) rebel in Tinsukia district who was believed to have been camping in a remote village to extort money.

Acting on a tip off, army, police and para military forces raided a hamlet in Pangery where Rajiv Moran, a dreaded rebel was arrested.

Police further seized a pistol from his possession. A team of army and police has been interrogating Rajiv to extract more information.
