In a major boost on the industrial front, an Assam government panel on Sunday has cleared two projects which would generate more direct and indirect jobs for many unemployed youths.
Chaired by chief minister Tarun Gogoi, the meeting in Guwahati, the meeting gave green signal for Ajanta Pharma Ltd. To set up a pharmaceuticals manufacturing factory in Chaygaon, Palasbari areas in Kamrup district. The Rs.177.67 crore project, if set up, would generate over 800 jobs apart from many other opportunities.
Other projects include a kraft paper manufacturing unit at Kamalpur in the same district. M/s Ecotech Papers will set up the industry with an investment of Rs.140.19 crore.
This is apart from M/s North East Nutrients Pvt. Limited which would set up a biscuits factory at Ramhari village in Darrang to provide jobs for atleast 1000 people.
Industry minister Basanta Das, additional Chief Secretaries, R.T.Jindal, Subhash Das, K.V. Eapen, Davinder Kumar and other senior officials were present in the meeting.
