IITian found dead

A B Tech student is believed to have committed suicide in the morning leaving the Guwahati IIT in utter shocked on Friday.
Identified as Ujjal Salil, the body of student from Bihar was found at the campus early in the morning. The inmate of the Brahmaputra Hostel was suspected to have jumped to the ground.

Police recovered the body and investigation is going on. This is the third such tragic incident at the country’s premier seat of science and technology in Guwahati during the last 12 months.

Last year in the same month i.e. on 14/09/2014 our son Tushar Yadav was also found dead behind his room in Kameng Hostel, before we reached there from Delhi IIT Guwahati declared it as suicide. Same thing happened in today"s case.  After our strong oppose case of conspiracy and murder was registered since then Police and IIT Guwahatidid nothing at yet, we at our level providing evidences, activities of suspects but all in vain. You the media also continuously describing as suicide why? On that day you the media failed to did your duty to find out facts then wrote such thing. If you did that in so hurry then why not you published the story of conspiracy and murder. This IIT has continue taking life of young engineers no media no ngo no political system no UGC no NHRC no Court take notice of it. We the grieved parents of Tushar can understand the loss that the family of Ujjal Shailabh have to bear through whole life, what else we can say   Narender Singh ( Gurgaon)

Blast rocks Sonitpur railway station

A grenade explosion rocked Belshri railway station in Sonitpur district on Friday. But there was no report of any injury. According to police, a five-member group of unidentified persons on motorcycles lobbed two grenades at a paddy field at Belshri under Misamari Police station at around 3.30 in the afternoon. A grenade went off at an open space near the railway station. Another unexploded grenade was also recovered from a well in the area by the local people. 5 killed in Palashbai accident

At least five persons were killed when a the vehicle carrying them collided head on in a dumper Palashbari area in the outskirt of Guwahati on Friday.The shocking accident took place in the afternoon at Bhagawatipara where a women died on the spot. Four others succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital. The deceased were identified as Amulya Kalita, Ratan Kalita, Prafulla Mahanta, Putul Kumari and Damayanti Sarma. Five others injured in the accident have been undergoing treatment at the hospital. Body recovered inside train

An unidentified body of a girl was found from a compartment of the Awadh-Assam Express at Guwahati Railway station on Friday.The body was found after the train arrived in Guwahati from Lalgarh in Rajasthan to be spotted by the cleaners inside a plastic drum near the bathroom of S-7 coach. Railway authorities have ordered an enquiry and efforts are on to identify the passengers, who had boarded the coach and left the bag.

HSLC exam begins; results on May 15

The High School Leaving Certificate and High Madrassa Examinations get underway along with the higher secondary examinations across the state on Monday.Amid tight security arrangement SEBA holds HSLC examinations for 3,84,702 candidates at 823 centres.  The Assma Higher Secondary Education Council conducts the Higher Secondary examination in the Arts, Science, Commerce and vocational streams at 768 centres with 2,36,971 candidates. SEBA will announce the HSLC results on May 15.

Ensure Assam safety: Gogoi to Centre

4 killed in Tezpur mishap

y at Bishwanath Ghat last night, turned turtle near Panibharal area of Bishwanath Chariali town in the morning, killing four on the spot.Among the 26 injured, 16 were admitted to Bishwanath Chariali Civil Hospital but 13 of them were referred to Tezpur Kanaklata Civil Hospital after their condition became critical.The dead have been identified as 45-year Durga Chetry, 20-year old Krishna Chetry, 18-year old Gopal Chetry and 12-year-old Pinky Sarma.  The vehicle, which was overloaded and speeding, turned turtle four times before rolling down the side of the road.
