Vasundhara entrepreneur award

The 2nd Vasundhara NE Woman Entrepreneur will be conferred on September 19 at Shillong. instituted by Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati, the wvent will see eight exceptionally talented women entrepreneurs from eight states of Northeast India being awarded in the state winners category and one among them being crowned with the coveted award for the year 2013-14.

M. Rajeshwar Rao, Chief General Manager, Financial Markets Operation Department, Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai will grace the occasion as Chief Guest besides a host of dignitaries who will grace the occasion as distinguished guests.

Instituted in 2014 by the Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati, it has emerged as a prestigious and one of a kind award and felicitation program covering the eight states of entire NE region. The award given to exceptional woman entrepreneurs with unique business ventures having a strong social commitment are selected by a selection panel constituted with eminent personalities from different sector related with entrepreneurship and business.

The state winners as has been declared by the selection panel for the  Vasundhara  NE Woman Entrepreneur of the year (2013-14) award are Lata Lepcha from Sikkim, Toko Likha Yaram from Arunachal Pradesh, T. Jemima Achumi from Nagaland, Moiregthem Muktamani Devi from Manipur, Lalhimpuii Hmar from Mizoram, Sukla Rani Debbarma from Tripura, Queency Thangkhiew from Meghalaya and Kanta Dey from Assam.

All of these women selected for the award have displayed rare sense of entrepreneurship and uniqueness in their idea and vision. For instance, while Smti T. Jemima Achumi of Nagaland has set up a fully automatic meat processing center with imported machineries from Germany and France, Toko Likha Yaram of Arunachal Pradesh has set up a cold storage at Banderdewa. Likewise Moiregthem Muktamani Devi of Manipur produces woolen knitted shoes and supplies to Indian army and also exports to countries such as UK, Australia and Korea. Their enterprises are exemplary in the otherwise male dominated sector of business and industry for which they have been identified and are being honoured, said Asomee Dutta Baruah, General Secretary of Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati.

The winner will walks away with a cash award of Rs. 25,000 besides trophy, a citation and a shawl and the eight state winners are being honoured with cash award of Rs. 10,000, a trophy, a citation and a shawl each.

Instituted with the sole objective of identifying the latent talents among the hardworking women entrepreneurs of NE region and recognizing and encouraging them for their endeavor and business achievements, the  award in its second year is being collaborated by the SME Division of the State Bank of India, NE Region and the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong. The award ceremony has also been organized during the IIM, Shillong annual management conclave  Emerge 2015 which will take place on 19th and 20th September, 2015.

Meet on NRC meet on Monday

More districts in Assam!

Dispur is in a process to bifurcate Nagaon, Sonitpur districts to update the administration system.According to Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi the big districts would be divided into smaller districts for ensuring better administration in the areas.Gogoi told reporters on Saturday that a similar exercise would also be initiated in some subdivisions for creation of new ones.He said that the State’s growing population demands creation of more districts and subdivisions for better administration.

Gogoi tables deficit budget

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi tabled his Rs 1300 crore deficit budget on the floor of the assembly on Monday with a mixed bag of cheers and tears. Gogoi, who also holds the finance portfolio has proposed lift tax on molasses and hiked the same on on bidi and cigarette increased from 20% to 25%. He further hiked tax on brick kiln. The budget proposed Rs 150 cr for 30 cold storage.The Chief Minister proposed smartcard for NREGA beneficiaries beside proposing Rs 60 crore for mini Assam project. Gogoi has proposed 200 bedded cancer hospital in Guwahati beside hills engineering college.

Major setback for Paresh Baruah

Eight ULFA militants and three link men surrendered before the police at Tinsukia on Friday.The militants further laid down arms before Tinsukia district Deputy Commissioner SS Meenakshi Sunderam, district superintendent of police PP Singh and DIG Satyen Gogoi.They deposited four AK-81 assault rifles with four magazines, one G-2 self-loading rifle (SLR) with three magazines, two 7.65 pistols, seven Chinese grenades, half kg TNT explosives and two mobiles.The eight ultras are Monoranjan Gogoi, Dipen Saikia, Manik Dohotia, Jayanta Saikia, Bulon Moran, Rantu Moran, Nizu Gohain and Hemkanta Changmai.

Dissidence undying

A section of parliamentary secretaries are set to bear the brunt of dissidence. Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is in a mood to reshuffle his cabinet to rein in the brigades.   Gogoi is believed to have talked to Sonia Gandhi to finetune the list.Before his departure to Delhi, Gogoi suspended the four parliamentary secretaries who are known to be closed to Dr Himanta Biswa Saram .
