River ranching programme at Sipit river
A River Ranching Programme was orgensied at Sipit river of Gette village, Upper Siang on September 13 by Department of Fisheries, Upper Siang District in Arunachal Pradesh. Chief Guest of the programme Deputy Commissioner Remo Kamki released around 20,000 fingerlings of indigenous fish and Indian Major Carps into the river Sipit alongwith other Heads of Departments, PRI members, Gaon Burahs
The ranching programme was organsied to create awareness amongst the public for preservation of aquatic fauna under the initiative of Kenbom Chisi, DFDO, Yingkiong. Speaking on the occasion, Yingkiong ZPM Bading Teng, a native of the same village, called for preservation of natural flora and fauna for ecological balance and urged the villagers to contain unwanted huntings etc. DMO, Kaling Dai, divulged on the issues of personal hygiene that prevents occurrence of certain diseases.
