The NDA government at the Centre, basically lead by a hindu nationalist party, has drawn no less flak across the north eastern region a day after it decided citizenship the Hindu, Buddhist and Christian Bangladeshi immigrants. Various political parties, organizations and individuals have vociferously slammed the Narendra Modi government and warned of dire consequences if the move is not stopped.
The first one to sharply react is Akhil Gogoi. The KMSS leader accused the government of turning the region into a dumping ground. The fire brand KMSS leader said that it was high time for the people of all walks of life in the region to stand united against the move.
Talking to Assam Times AGP senior leaders called it a desperate attempt to win the assembly polls with the help of the Bangladeshi intruders. “The timing of the significant move itself suggests hardly any difference with Congress. BJP is doing all these keeping in mind the Assam assembly polls early next year,” said a senior AGP leader.
Congress leaders in Assam also slammed the Centre alleging that BJP is eyeing on the assembly polls with these citizenship move for non-Muslim vote bank. “Our party will give a fitting reply in the election,” said a senior ruling party leader.
Notably, the NDA government on Monday decided citizenship the Hindu, Buddhist and Christian Bangladeshi immigrants hardly 6 months before the assembly polls.
