Gogoi wants apolitical Assam guv, to meet PM

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is schedule to call on Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on Monday noon at his official residence. According to what the sources here say, the Assam Chief Minister will virtually oppose the move to appoint an opolitical person as governor but the Centre is considering an retired army chief staff for the post as the term for the sitting Assam Governor Lt General (Retd) Ajoy Kumar Singh is expiring soon. During his meeting with the Prime Minister, Mr Gogoi is set to invite Dr Singh for the foundation laying ceremony of the proposed Jorhat Medical College. The Chief Minister will further call on petroleum minister Murli Deora to seek his help bail out the Numligarh Refinery from the grim crisis.
