The Wild Wisdom Quiz launched by WWF-India in 2008 has emerged as Asia’s largest wildlife related quiz and the only national level wildlife quiz in India. The Assam City level Wild Wisdom Quiz of WWF-India in association with the Ministry of Earth Sciences and Central Board of Secondary Education culiminated at the Royal Global School auditorium. Top two finalists from each school of WWF Wild Wisdom School level quiz represented their schools in the Assam City Level quiz today. Some 36 schools from various parts of Assam participated in today’s City Level quiz. The quiz began with a preliminary round for both the Junior and Middle school. The top 5 scorers of each level were selected for the final city level quiz.
The finalists schools from Junior level who contested in the final round were DPS Guwahati, Maharshi Vidyamandir School-Rajgarh, Don Bosco School, Guwahati, Suderashan Public School, Sanskriti The Gurukul, Guwahati. Thereafter, in a closely contested competition conducted by quizmaster Abhra Das, Mohixit Goswami (class V) and Abhinandarupa Mahanta (Class V) of Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Rajgarh came out as the Junior Level Champions in the Assam, Guwahati City Final.
Adhiraj Kar (Class IV) and Navneel Chakraborty (Class V) of DPS, Guwahati bagged the 2nd position DPS while Krishti Nayana Nath (Class V) and Soumyaditya Deb (Class V) of Don Bosco School, Guwahati stood 3rd.
The Junior school winners received prizes, certificates & trophies from the Principal of Royal Global School, Mrs. Anubha Goyal and Mrs. Archita Baruah Bhattacharyya, Senior Programme Officer of WWF-India’s Assam & Arunachal Pradesh State Office.
The finalists for the middle level quiz were Maria’s Public School, Don Bosco School, Guwahati, Sampoorna Kendriya Vidyalaya Dibrugarh, Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Silpukhuri and Royal Global School, Guwahati. Kaustav Kalita (Class VIII) and Bhraaz Kashyap (Class VII) of Don Bosco School, Guwahati, secured the first position in a stiff competition. Mayukh Saikia (Class VIII) and Abhigyan R. Duarah (Class VIII) of Maria's Public School stood second and 3rd Bigyatom Baruah (Class VIII) and Arpit Ayang Doley (Class VII) of Sampoorna Kendra Vidyalaya, Dibrugarh stood third.
Don Bosco School, Guwahati shall represent Assam in the National Final to be held in New-Delhi on 7thOctober, 2015 during the Wildlife Week.The top 3 teams of the national final will win once-in-a-lifetime adventure trip to Tirthan Valley, in Himachal Pradesh in partnership with Chrysalid- outdoor learning centres. The theme of the national final Wild Wisdom Quiz is "Soil."
The Wildlife Wisdom Quiz aims to provide students a unique opportunity to delve deeper into the wildlife of this country, build their interest towards the rich natural legacy and inspire them to work towards its conservation. The theme for 2015, based on the UN declaration of the year 2015 as the International Year of Soils, seeks to highlight the importance and value of soil as the basis of the health of planet earth and the delicate web of life, of which humans are an integral part. Wild Wisdom Quiz 2015 has taken a step forward to make citizens realize the significance of soil and also uncover its secrets.
