Arunachal polling booth on the soil of Assam

Tension is simmering along Assam-Arunachal border in Charaideo sub division in Assam as the Arunachal Pardesh police administration stopped a motorcycle rally the by AJYCP on Monday on its way to Bimalapur and Chaipung where the neighbouring state was holding its panchayat polls.

The AJYCP leaders have alleged that the Arunachal Pradesh Government was holding panchayat polls in Assam’s territory in the area under Charaideo sub division in Sivasagar district.

That is why, the Arunachal police prevented the AJYCP-sponsored motor cycle rally before it reached Bimalapur Charaipung. This has forced an uneasy situation in the area and student leaders burnt poll posters and banners in the area and called for a 12 hour Charaideo sub division on Tuesday.

Later Charaideo police arrived on the spot and brought the situation under control. They urged the Arunachal police to leave the spot early to avoid further sporadic incidence of violence.
