There seems to be no let-up in the state’s overall food fury which has turned from bad to worse. The situation would be more alarming if rains refuse to halt during the next 24 hours.
The water level of the Brahmaputra and its tributaries started rising following the incessant rains that lashed the north eastern region for the last 50 hours.
The worst-hit areas include Kokrajhar, Chirang, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Sonitpur and Dibrugarh forcing leaving more than 30 lakh people trapped in these districts.
Relief and rescue operations are going on in the affected areas apart from the setting up 70 relief camps to accommodate the flood-hit people.
