The Opposition staged a walk out in the opening day of the Assam assembly session on Monday for disallowing to figure out vital issue on the floor.
Congress and AIUDF legislators demanded a discussion on the move to auction oilfields along with the other confronting problems. The ruling BJP, BPF and AGP members urged the Speaker not to allow any discussion on the issue.
Amid attack and counter attack between the Opposition and treasury benches, Congress MLAs walked out the House and minutes after it the AIUDF counterparts also followed the suit.
Congress members thrashed the government for the auction step where the BJP members strongly defended the move. A section of BJP members countered the Congress camp alleging that the auction move was initiated for the first time during the UPA regime.
Earlier, when the House assembled the Opposition Congress and AIUDF members demanded suspension of the House proceedings to discuss the move to auction 12 marginal oil fields in view of the widespread protest. The ruling party members came out in support of the move and urged the Speaker not listen to the demand.
A section of Opposition legislators rushed to the Speaker to mount pressure on him to listen to them forcing Ranjit Das to adjourn the House for 5 minute. Same uproar took place when the House reassembled.
