Guwahati BJP leaders and activists staged dharna in the city on Friday demanding immediate release of four of their partymen who were arrested charging them throwing out the Don Bosco statue in Bharalu recently.
More than 100 partymen assembled at the Dighalipukhuri in the morning alleging that the Tarun Gogoi government has been doing politics over the sensitive issue.
Notably, Bharalu police recently arrested a local BJP councilor along with three others accusing of vandalizing the statue hours before it was to be unveiled at a park.
