The Kokrajhar district administration has ordered magisterial inquiry into the alleged gang-rape of a seven month pregnant woman by two armymen belonging to 10 Bihar Regiment at Gwjwnpara village under Kachugaon police station in Gossaigaon subdivision of Kokrajhar district Sunday late night.
Addressing to the Reporters at DC conference hall today, Madhav Prasad Sarma,Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner said a magisterial inquiry order has been given to investigate the gang-rape case filed by a pregnant woman. He said that Gossaigaon Civil SDO Monoj Kumar Barua has been handed over the case for investigation and to submit the findings within seven days.
He also nnounced Rs 25, 000 one time gratia will be provided for medical purpose to the victim woman.
Kokrajhar Superintendent of Police Shyamal Prasad Saikia said police have already started the investigation and action against those found guilty will be taken as per law. He said the inquiry will be impartial.
Sarma also request the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) who has called for 12 hours Kokrajhar bandh tomorrow to call off the bandh as the process of investigation has already been started.
It is to be mentioned that two jawans belonging to 10 Bihar Regiment camped at Mainaguri allegedly raped the pregnant woman after taking her to a nearby school adjacent to her house. A case has been registered at Kachugaon police station against the army.
The army however refutes the allegation saying the allegation as baseless and are directed towards maligning the image of Indian army. The army also filed crossed FIR against the allegation leveled against them at Kachugaon police station.
