Femina Miss India 2015 finalist from North-east Rewati Chetri and fashion designer and choreographer Chow Poran J Gogoi recently conducted a week long workshop based on activities leading to skilled behavior in association with Guwahati based fashion institute Mantraa Grooming Academy.

Powered by Mantraa Grooming Academy, Mantraa Media and Events, conducted Grooming Guide', a week long grooming workshop from July 23 to July 30

This was a kind workshop was carried on for the first time by Mantraa with an aim to groom the upcoming and emerging models and fashion industry individuals by providing them professional training in activities leading to skilled behavior. 

Apart from Rewati and Chaw Poran, the event also witnessed mentors like Mr North East and professional model Thaneswar Rovi, fashion stylist Lopa Baruah, fitness and yoga instructor Mintu Baruah, Dipankar Bhattacharjya, Meenakshi Dowerah, Sanjay Dutta and craft and costume designer Nang Anne Gogoi.

The grand finale was held at Mantraa Grooming Academy premises in Ganeshguri, Guwahati, on July 30 followed by a fashion show choreographed by Chow. Poran J. Gogoi while all the students received their Certificate of Participation.

Meghraj Upadhyay, chairman of Mantraa Group said, "It is our first initiative and we are happy to be supported by various partners in a short notice." He also added that youths of BPL families with proper documentations will be given free grooming in the future grooming sessions and workshops.

In her vote of thanks, Debjani Hazarika highlighted the importance of training and proper grooming for emerging models before they enter the glamour world and fashion industry professionally.

Upanash Preetam of Mantraa gave the welcomed the guests and participants in his welcome speech.

In view of the coming Independence Day celebrations in the country and the attack on Bodh Gaya temple by suspected fundamentalist groups earlier this month, an alert has been sounded at several international airports in the country, including the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati. The Centre has cleared Rs 1 crore for each of the six Tribal Autonomous Councils to build their office space, minister of state for tribal affairs Ranee Narah said. All those councils are currently running their secretariats from rented accommodations. The councils which will now have their own offices are Tiwa Autonomous Council at Marigaon, Rabha Autonomous Council at Goalpara, Deori Autonomous Council at Lakhimpur, Mishing Autonomous Council at Dhemaji, Thengal Kachari Autonomous Council at Titabor and Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council at Dibrugarh.
The South Central Railway will run nine special trains - eight between Secunderabad and Guwahati and one from Aurangabad to Secunderabad to clear passenger rush. Secunderabad-Guwahati train will depart from Secunderabad at 7.30 am on July 26, August 2, 9 and 16 (Fridays) and arrive in Guwahati at 7.55 am on the third day i.e Sundays. In the return direction, the train will depart from Guwahati at 6 am on July 29, August 5, 12 and 19 (Mondays) and arrive in Secunderabad at 9.15 am on Wednesdays.
One person died and ten others have been injured when suspected ULFA militants lobbed a powerful grenade at a busy market place in Bokolia town of Karbi Anglong district on Wednesday. The grenade exploded in front of a shop at 6.40 pm injuring ten persons. The injured were admitted to a local hospital where the condition of one person was stated to be serious. Nobody has owned up responsibility. But police call it a handiwork of ULFA.
At least six people have been injures in two powerful explosions that rocked Lakhimpur town on Tuesday.The first explosion rocked the Jail Road are where one person sustained injury. This was followed by the blast at the Lakhimpur court premises. Five people have been injured. Security forces have cordoned the entire town area to nab the culprits. The injured people have been rushed to the hospital. No outfit has so far claimed responsibility.

The overall flood situation shows some let-up sign. But the majority of the affected locations are still under water.The flood water receded in Chirang and Lakhimpur districts, while the situation in the worst-hit Dhemaji and Jorhat had also marginally improved.Most of the villages in 12 affected districts were still under water.The first wave of flood this season since mid-May has affected nearly 1.5 lakh people in about 500 villages across 12 districts in the state.
A rhino and an elephant were found dead in the  National Park on Sunday. The carcass had its horn intact in Barakata area under Bagori range. Forest officials call it a natural death about three days ago. In another incident, an elephant, which had triggered panic in Deopani area of the same range in the Park, was found dead on Sunday with injury marks on its body.
Three hardcore NSLA militants have been nabbed in Gossaigaon on Saturday two days after they allegedly shot dead an auto driver. The militants were arrested during a raid conducted at a house in Gossaigaon in morning. Two MM pistols were seized from their possession along with two magazines, an AK-47 rifle and some bullets were seized from their possession.
