New party emerges in BTAD

A new political party has emerged nine months ahead of the assembly polls. Precisely, it is a conglomeration of various political and non political parties in Kokrajhar. Named as the United People’s Party, it is formed under the banner of People’s Co-ordination for Democratic Rights (PCDR.

Former Rajya Sabha MP and ex-president of All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) Urkhao Gwra Brahma is the president while ex-BTC MCLA Pradip Kumar Damary is the general secretary of the new party which was announced at Dotma in Kokrajhar at a special convention of People’s Co-ordination for Democratic Rights (PCDR), a conglomeration of various political and non political parties in the BTAD.

The PCDR hold its special convention at Dotma in Kokrajhar where an unanimously resolution was adopted in the delegate session for floating the new political party.

Rwngwra Narzary, chief coordinator of PCDR said the new party was formed uniting the two regional political party the Bodoland Peoples’ Progressive Front (BPPF) and United Democratic People’s Front (UDLF) and the PCDR members.

He said that the PCDR will continues its coordination maong various commuity and organisation in the region and will have its new committee within short span of days.

He has eyed newly floated party will fulfill peoples’  aspiration and  issues of the social integration.

ABSU president Promod Boro said the new party will highlight peoples’ related issues and problems in coming days as society is wanting healthy environment.

Security forces apprehended two cadres of National Santhali Liberation Army (NSLA), a militant outfit of Adivasi community from Telipara under Gossaigaon police station on Monday night in Kokrajhar district.The cadres were identified as Albert Murmu and Lapun Kisku. Police recovered one shot gun, pistol and grenade from their possession. 
A hardcore cadre of NDFB(Songbijit faction) identified as Nijwm Basumatry was killed in an encounter with security forces at Pepsu Road along India-Bhutan border under Kachugaon police station  late last night in Kokrajhar district.Police said that security forces belonging to Assam police and army conducted an operation in Pepu area under Kachugaon police station in Gossaigon sub-division in the district of Kokrajhar late last night where an exchange of fire was held and a NDFB cadre died on the spot.Police recovered,  one 9 mm pistol and grenade from slain militant cadre.
