Satriya workshop

A ten day workshop on Satriya dance and Borgeet training session is being organising at Kokrajhar Naamghar in Kokrajhar since July 21 to July 31.

Over 30 participants from Kokrajhar town and its adjoining area are participating in the training session,  which has been organised by Kokrajhar Sangkardev Naamghar in association with Yuva Thirtha, Assam. 

Govindo Mahanta, principal of Guwahati Satriya Sangeet Vidyalaya has been imparting training on Satriya dance and Borgeet to the trainees in the workshop. 

Mahanta told that the training has been organised to create environment of Satriya dance and Borgeet among youths in the region.He said that the Satriya dance and Borgeet has a potential attraction of cultural viewers in the country, of which why young generation should learn cultural steps. 

Peoples of the region expressed their hope that the training session will be benefitted to the young generations among society.

BP unified with BPF

BPF announce two more candidates

BPF president Hagrama Mohilary announced two more candidates to contest ensuing election at a party meeting at Dotma in Kokrajhar on Sunday.  Rabiram Narzary, newly unified with BPF from BPPF has need nominated for Kokrajhar West and Milan Boro, Bawanipur constituencies.  With today's announcement BPF's candidate toll goes 16 seats. Commissioner reviews PM visit preparation

Lower Assam Commissioner Mehtabuddin Ahmed visited Kokrajhar, heart of BTAD administration to take stock of preparation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Kokrajhar visit on January 19. Three injured on Bear attack

A forest official was seriously injured when he was attacked by wild bear at Alu farm in Halugaon area of Kokrajhar district. According to forest official, Nilmoni Brahma, a staff of Amguri forest beat office under Gaurang Forest Range  was attacked by the bear this morning around 10 am. The bear, which strayed from near by forest area has already attacked two civilian in the last three days. Goutam Brahma and Hemanta Basumatary were  attacked by the bear on Monday evening. Girl rescued from North East express at Kokrajhar

A minor girl was rescued from the North East express train at Kokrajhar railway station here today. Getting information, members of Kokrajhar based NGO Nedan foundation and security forces belonging to Kokrajhar police and CRPF carried out a rescue operation and rescued the girl. The alleged trafficker was also nabbed.  Sources said the girl was being taken by a youth identified as Deepak Singh of Uttar Pradesh. Singh was caught and handed over to the police. TET Teachers’ continue hunger strike

At least 20-agitator teachers’ health condition  turned to deteriorated, among them seven were reffered to hospital on its second day of 72-hours long hunger strike at Rashmela ground of Lower Assam’s Kokrajhar district, started from yesterday demanding regularization of posts, payment of balance remuneration, equal remuneration and privileges with the TET teachers appointed under SSA.
