The overall flood scene turns grim on Wednesday again following incessant rains that lashed parts of the state during the last 24 hours.
The river Brahmaputra and its tributaries have started flowing above the danger level because of the rains.
Many areas in Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Tinsukia, Jorhat and Dhemaji have come under the surging waters rendering thousands of people homeless.
Rescue and relief operations are in progress in all these affected areas. If the rains refuse to halt, the scene would take more grim turn.
